Nature Arabesques is my series of hand-built ceramics that echo the flowing and curvaceous forms found in nature: from the sandy shores and watery shallows of the ocean to the fungi under foot and the folds of lichen clinging to trees in the forest, and even as close to home as the seed pods hanging from my magnolia tree. The pieces are each hand-built without a predetermined plan.
As the artist, I work with intention but stay flexible as the piece evolves, intuitively responding to the way the clay seems to want to “be.”
